Tata Steel Foundation Dedicates Infrastructure Facilities to the Community

~ Mobile Public Health Unit inaugurated

Kalinganagar: Reiterating its commitment towards community development, Tata Steel Foundation dedicated various infrastructure facilities to the community including a Mobile Public Health Unit (MPHU) and a newly constructed additional building at Mantira Higher Secondary School in Mantira village under Danagadi Block of Jajpur district of Odisha on Friday.

The facilities were inaugurated by Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and Er. Pritiranjan Gharai, Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, Skill Development & Technical Education in the presence of Ambika Prasad Nanda, Head, CSR (Odisha), Tata Steel, Sujata Rani Dhal, Principal in-charge, Mantira Higher Secondary School, senior officials of Tata Steel Foundation and PRI members from in and around Mantira.

The additional building of 7000 sq ft in the college has 2 classrooms, one fully furnished library and a computer training centre. While the computer centre has been set up by Tata Steel Foundation, it will be operated by NIIT Foundation and offer basic and advanced computer courses along with spoken English classes to the students residing in six nearby gram panchayats.

On the occasion, a Mobile Public Health Unit (MPHU) was also inaugurated by the dignitaries. The MPHU will cater to around people residing in 18 Gram Panchayats in and around Kalinganagar namely Pankapala, Mantira, Khapuriapada, Kumbhiragadia, Jakhapura, Mangalpur, Gobarghati, Chandia, Sansailo, Olia, Duburi, Baragadia, Sarangpur, Trijanga, Nadibhanga, Ollala, Salijanga and Ranagundi.

Along with a doctor, a team of five paramedics and support staff, the Mobile Public Health Unit (MPHU) will offer free consultation, investigation, counselling, and medicines to the people. With this initiative, Tata Steel Foundation aims to provide preventive, promotive, and primary healthcare services to the local community focusing on behavior change communication, improving health seeking behavior, screening for non-communicable diseases, and creating awareness on seasonal diseases and its counter measures.

The event concluded with certificate distribution to five Persons with Disability (PwDs), who have been imparted training at SABAL, Sukinda and five passed out students of NIIT centre at Duburi on successful completion of the courses.
