Prayagraj- February 10 : The Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is witnessing an overwhelming numbers of devotees from across the world, deeply drawn to the rich heritage of Sanatan Dharma. So far, crores of pilgrims have taken a holy dip in the sacred waters, including a significant number of young devotees. Adani Group has taken a special initiative in the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj by joining hands with GitaPress Gorakhpur to connect the people with Sanatan culture. Adani Group is working with GitaPress to distribute 1 crore Aarti collections.

To facilitate this, multiple stalls have been set up across the fairgrounds and city, witnessing a high demand—particularly among the youth. Some take it out of curiosity, while others cherish it as a valuable keepsake for their homes. Alok Kumar, a devotee from Mirzapur, shared his experience, “We grew up listening to these Aartis in our village and homes. Now, getting a collection of them for free is a truly delightful experience. This initiative will help people connect with Sanatan Dharma on a deeper level.”

A compiled Aarti collection
The free Aarti collection made by the efforts of Adani Group is special in many ways. GitaPress manager Dr. Lalmani Tiwari says that Aartis have been collected in both Sanskrit and Hindi languages in the compilation. The oldest Hindi Aarti featured in the collection is ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’, is written by Pandit Shraddharam Sharma Phillauri in 1875. For nearly 150 years, this Aarti has remained an integral part of Hindu rituals. Similarly, another renowned Aarti in the compilation was written by Hanuman Prasad Poddar, the editor of Aarti Sangrah. Lalmani Tiwari says that the first edition of the Aarti Sangrah that Adani Group is distributing came in 1953 and so far 97 editions of it have been printed.

Gandhi’s friend, opponent of the British Hanuman Prasad ‘Bhai Ji’

The editor of Aarti Sangrah, Hanuman Prasad Poddar was very close to Mahatma Gandhi and on his request, he used to write for Gita Press. Hanuman Prasad Poddar also participated in the freedom struggle and went to jail. Later, Hanuman Prasad Poddar himself worked to take Gita Press to the top. While doing business in Mumbai, Hanuman Prasad Poddar came in contact with revolutionary Lokmanya Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Damodar Savarkar, Sangeetacharya Vishnu Digambar etc. Everyone used to call Hanuman Prasad Bhaiji with love, hence the word Bhaiji was added to Hanuman Prasad’s name.
