Bhubaneswar Hosts Special Handloom Expo to Promote Women-Led Weaving Enterprises


Bhubaneswar, February 24, 2025: The Special Handloom Expo for Women Self Help Groups organised by SADHAC, was inaugurated today i.e., 24th February 2025 at 7 pm at Ekamra Haat, Bhubaneswar. The event was graced by the esteemed presence Managing Director, Boyanika, Pranati Chhotray, who officially inaugurated the Expo. The inaugural event was also graced by the august presence of Director of Textiles & Handlooms, Odisha Shri Bikramaditya Barik, Special Officer, Directorate of Textiles, Bhubaneswar Smt. Indira Behera,  Additional Director of Sericulture, Shri Surya Narayan Pattnaik, Joint Director of Textiles Shri Debjit Nandyand other senior officers of the Department.

The Special Expo is sponsored by Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Government of Odisha and organised by Directorate of Textiles, Odisha, Bhubaneswar under the scheme Promotion of Handloom Industry (POHI) for the year 2024-25. The Special Expo is a unique initiative aimed at empowering women self-help groups from Bargarh, Cuttack, Sonepur, Athagarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Khordha, Baripada, Balasore, Berhampur, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Sundargarh by providing them with a platform to showcase and sell their handloom products like dress materials, fabrics, home décor, which will further help boost up the sales and provide regularemployment to the women weaver members of the Women Self Help Groups. The Special Expo is being implemented through State Agency for Development of Handloom Clusters (SADHAC), an autonomous organisation under Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Government of Odisha.
The Expo is a common platform where customers will get handloom products of all over the state in a reasonable price. The Special Handloom Expo will be open to the public from February 24, 2025 till March 10, 2025, with daily timings from 11 AM to 10 PM. We invite everyone to visit Ekamra Haat and experience the beauty and craftsmanship of Odisha’s handloom traditions.
