Tata Steel’s Joda West Mine and Gopalpur Plant Honoured with CII SHE Excellence Awards

Bhubaneswar, September 12, 2025: Tata Steel’s Joda West Iron & Manganese Mine, located in Keonjhar district and Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP), Gopalpur in Ganjam district, have bagged the prestigious CII SHE Excellence Award at the 19th Safety Symposium & Exposition. Organized by the leading industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region in Kolkata, the two-day event brought together industry leaders committed to advancing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) excellence.

Joda West Iron & Manganese Mine, operating under Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD), received the State Level and Regional Level Winner Awards in the Mining category, for its relentless efforts toward creating a safe and sustainable workplace. Rajesh Kumar Ranjan, Head of the Manganese Group of Mines, and Pulluri Shashank, Area Manager (Safety), FAMD, received the awards on behalf of the mine.

Likewise, FAP Gopalpur was conferred the State Level Winner Award and Regional Level 1st Runner Up Award in the Large-Scale Manufacturing category (employees up to 2,500), for its commitment to safety innovation and well-being of employees. Atla Rambabu, Head of Safety (FAMD), and Balram Mishra, Manager of Safety at FAP Gopalpur, received the accolades on behalf of the Plant.

The theme for this year’s Safety Symposium & Exposition – “Innovate HSE – Elevate Wellness” – resonated deeply with the company’s approach of integrating innovative safety practices with employee wellness as a cornerstone of sustainable operations.

This recognition reaffirms Tata Steel’s commitment as an industry leader in safety management, aligned with its vision of sustainable growth and responsible mining and manufacturing practices.
