TPCODL restores 2,712 poles, 370 Transformers, 59 DP structures impacted by frequent spells of Kalbaisakhi since March 2023

• Repairs 234 circuit kms of damaged cables
• Over 2X rise in Kalbaisakhi incidents in 2023 vis a vis 2022

Bhubaneswar: TP Central Odisha Discom Ltd (TPCODL) has restored 2712 electric poles, repaired 370 distribution transformers since March 2023 that were severely impacted by the frequent spells of high intensity Kalbaisakhis reported this year.

The dedicated 7,700 ground staff of TPCDOL have also repaired 234 circuit km of damaged cables. They have also restored 59 DP structures during this period.

There has been a significant increase in the number of Kalbaishakhis this year in the TPCODL areas impacting large scale power network. Since March this year, more than 230 instances of Kalbaishakhis were reported in TPCODL areas, a jump of 2-fold as compared to just 80 reported in 2022.
