Traditional Gotipua Dance Festival-2024 inaugurated


Bhubaneswar: ‘Gotipua Dance Festival-2024’ by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Center, an autonomous institute under the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, has inaugurated its own theatre at “Utkal Rangamanch” today.
Sri Dilip Routrai, Director of the Department of Odia, Language, Literature and Culture attended as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the festival with the lighting of the lamp with Sikata Das, the Chief Executive GKCM Odissi Research Centre; Anuja Tarini Mishra, Administrative Officer, GKCM ORC and welcomed the gurus of the institute who were to perform the afternoon dance on the stage. It is scheduled to be held for two days on 29th and 30th. About 20 Gotipua organizations of the state are scheduled to perform dances on this grand occasion, while 10 organizations performed gotipuu dance separately in the afternoon and evening sessions today. Among them were Kailas Gotipua Dance Institute, Sakthigopal; Aradhana Dance Academy, Pradhan Sahi, Khurda; Jaydev Gotipua Odissi Dance Institute, Bhingarpur, Khurda; Kasada Gotipua, Chandanpur, Puri; Nrutyambar, Puri; Baba Gorakhnath Gotipu Dance Association, Puri; Bankeshwari Gotipua Nrutya Parishad, Puri; Avinna Sundara Gotipua Dance Council, Puri; Nakshatra Gurukula Trust, Bhubaneswar and Laxmipriya Gotipua, Balipatna, Khurda.
It is worth mentioning here that this festival has been officially celebrated by Odissi Research Center for the past 10 years. In the last year 2013, the institution celebrated this festival. In order to keep this traditional ‘Gotipua dance’ associated with our culture alive, this festival will be celebrated every year in the coming days.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Srinivas Ghatuari and conducted by Ms. Anuja Tarini Mishra, Administrative Officer, Odissi Research Center.
