Empowering Farmers: Dry Ginger Marketing Linkage Flagged Off in Jharsuguda


Jharsuguda : In a remarkable step towards strengthening rural value chains, a Flag-off Ceremony was held at the Inderpur Ginger Processing Unit in Lakhanpur Block, Jharsuguda District, marking the dispatch of the first dry ginger consignment to Bharat Masala, a reputed spice company based in Cuttack.

The initiative, part of the Integrated Village Development Program (IVDP) supported by LTIMindtree Foundation, was spearheaded by Sankalpa Farmers Producer Company, promoted and mentored by Anchalik Jana Kalyan Anusthan (AJKA).

The ceremony was graced by Mr. Jitender Ghangas, Associate Director – CSR Sustainability, LTIMindtree Foundation, Mr. Pruthiviraj Mondal the Chief District Agriculture Officer, Jharsuguda and Mr Goutam Behera, Secretry, AJKA as chief guests. The event also witnessed the active participation of senior officials, including Dr.Sameer ranjan Das, Senior Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ,Dr. Tarak Chandra Panda, scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK) Jharsuguda, Mr. Amit Naik, Assistant Horticulture Officer, Lakhanpur Block and Mr.Bibhukalyan Mishra, Program Manager, PRADAN, symbolizing multi-stakeholder collaboration in rural enterprise development.

The Inderpur Ginger Processing Unit, established to promote value addition and enhance farmer incomes, represents a model for sustainable agriculture-led development. By establishing direct market linkages, the initiative not only improves farmers’ earnings but also strengthens the local economy.
Mr. Ghangas praised the efforts of AJKA and the FPO members, stating, “This is a shining example of how collaboration, grassroots engagement, and sustainable practices can transform rural livelihoods.”

The event marks a new chapter for small and marginal farmers of Western Odisha, offering them visibility and access to organized markets—a significant milestone in their journey toward self-reliance.
