ILLEGAL MOBILE SAWMILL AND TIMBER WORTH ₹22 LAKHS SEIZED

Mayurbhanj: In a joint operation carried out today, 21.07.2025, the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid at the residence of Sri Gyan Ranjan Das, located in Village Rangamatia under Kaptipada Police Station in Mayurbhanj district.

During the raid, a large quantity of valuable sawn timber measuring approximately 400 CFT along with a mobile sawmill unit, collectively valued at ₹22 lakhs, was detected and seized.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sri Das was operating the mobile sawmill unit without a valid license, in clear violation of the Odisha Sawmill and Sawpit (Control) Act, 1991.

Further investigation is underway. A detailed report will follow.
