National Seminar on Recent Advances in Iconic Building Projects to be Held in Bhubaneswar on 8th June 2025


Bhubaneswar : The capital city of Odisha is all set to host a prestigious National Seminar on Recent Advances in Iconic Building Projects on 8th June 2025, jointly organized by the Works Department, Government of Odisha and the Indian Building Congress (IBC). The event is expected to bring together over 200 participants, including renowned engineers, architects, urban planners, government officials, technocrats, and academicians from across the country.

The seminar will be graced by the Honble Minister of Works Department, Government of Odisha, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Works Department, will attend as the Guest of Honour. The event will feature three technical sessions focused on cutting-edge topics such as smart infrastructure, sustainable construction, and innovative approaches in iconic building design.

The other dignitaries present at the occasion were Trinatha Behera, Secretary, IBC Odisha Chapter, Manoj Kumar Mahananda, Convenor, Priyabrata Samantray, Chairman, Venue Committe, O P Goel, Founder President, Ashok Basa, Deputy Ex-EVP, WFEO, Mr Pradeep Mittal, Past-President, I S Sidhu, Executive Director, IBC .

Er Bijay Chandra Tripathy, Chairman of the Odisha Chapter of Indian Building Congress, shared that, Many national experts will attend the seminar to deliberate on the latest advancements in the construction and infrastructure sector. Authors will present research papers on recent innovations. Representatives from key government bodies like the PWD, Housing and Urban Development Department, WATCO, Odisha Police Housing Corporation, IDCO, and esteemed institutions like VSSUT, OUTR and SoA will also take part.

Er .Chinmay Debnath, President of Indian Buildings Congress, added, We are organizing the 196th Executive Council Meeting of Indian Building Congress in association with the Works Department. The seminar on recent advancements in iconic buildings will see participation from experts across the country. The outcome of the sessions will be submitted to the government for possible policy-level implementation.

Er. Manoranjan Mishra, Ex-EIC, Govt of Odisha and IBC Council Member, emphasized the importance of the upcoming event, stating, After two decades, a national-level seminar of the Indian Building Congress is being held in Bhubaneswar. This event will bring together engineers, architects, and technocrats to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of infrastructure development.

Prof. P. K. Parhi, Vice Chairman of IBC, Odisha Chapter, said, This is the first time the Odisha Chapter of IBC is organizing such a national event in Bhubaneswar, and we are receiving an overwhelming response from Government bodies, planning authorities, academic institutions, and experts from various fields.

The seminar promises to be a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practices in the evolving field of construction and infrastructure. It is poised to contribute valuable insights to the planning and execution of future iconic building projects across India.

The Seminar will have 5 eminent keynote speakers i.e. Mr Sanjay Pant, DDG BlS, Mr Debendra Gill , ED Safety, DMRC, Mr Murugesan, Mr S. Samantray and Mr Pyari Mohan Mishra,  who will address on diverse topics from sustainability to safety and innovation in materials and methodology .
