Tata Steel Foundation Inaugurates Tribal Dance and Music Centre in Gobarghati


Kalinganagar, July 17, 2025 – Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) has inaugurated the Tribal Dance and Music Centre at Gobarghati Phase 2, Bamiaghata Community Hall, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous cultural heritage.

The centre was inaugurated by Suvransu Sekhar Rout, Chief, Logistics Operations, Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), and Rabindra Kumar Jamuda, President, Tata Steel Kalinganagar Workers’ Union (TSKWU), in the presence of senior community members and leaders from the Displaced Persons (DP) families representing the areas of Chadia, Gobarghati, and New Champakoila.

In the lead-up to the inauguration, a four-day workshop on tribal dance and music was organised from July 7 to July 10, 2025. The workshop actively engaged youth, women, and community leaders, drawing participation from over 60 individuals. Conducted in collaboration with Adivasi Ramoj Akhra, Jharkhand, the programme served as a vibrant prelude to the centre’s launch, fostering enthusiasm and cultural pride among the local community.

During the ceremony, the TSF team delivered a comprehensive overview of the Tribal Dance and Music Centre’s objectives, emphasising its role in nurturing traditional art forms and empowering tribal communities. The Tribal Dance and Music Centre is envisioned as a vibrant hub for cultural expression, skill development, and community engagement, with the aim of preserving the rich legacy of tribal dance and music for future generations.
