Tata Steel Kalinganagar Celebrates 120th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata

~ 1000 saplings planted as part of Mass Plantation Drive

~ 484 unit of blood collected in the Blood Donation Camp

~ Homage ceremonies at TSK, NINL, FAP Bamnipal & FAP Jajpur

Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) celebrated the 120^th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata with a lot of fervour on Monday at its Kalinganagar plant located in Duburi of Jajpur district.

The celebrations started with floral tributes to the great visionary during a homage ceremony at TSK Centre that was attended by Karamveer Singh, General Manager Operations, TSK and Rabindra Kumar Jamuda, President, Tata Steel Workers’ Union as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. Among others present on the occasion were senior officials, Union representatives and employees of Tata Steel Kalinganagar.

As part of the celebrations, a blood donation drive was also organised by Joint Development Committee (JDC), Corporate Services, TSK in association with Odisha Blood Centre, District Headquarter Hospital. Jajpur at Auditorium, Plot 2. 484 volunteers including employees, vendor partners, and contract workers donated blood during the blood donation drive.

Later in the day, a plantation drive was organised by the Environment Department inside plant premises in which more than 1000 saplings were planted by the employees and contract workers.  

Apart from this, quiz and essay competitions were organised by Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) for more than 500 children studying in various schools, Pre-Matric Coaching Centres, and NIIT Centres in the region. In addition to this, TSF also organised a ‘Football Tournament’ at Trijanga colony in which 12 Grassroot Football Centres from Kalinganagar, Sukinda and Bamnipal participated.

Similar homage ceremonies were also organised Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), Ferro Alloys Plant Bamnipal and Ferro Alloys Plant Jajpur. At NINL, a quiz competition on JRD Tata was also organised for the children of the employees at NINL colony. Apart from this, as part of the JRD birth celebrations, various online events were organized for the employees across all locations on the day including digital homage, virtual exhibition, and other interactive sessions.
