TPNODL’s Mobile Health Vans Extend Essential Medical Support to Odisha’s Rural Communities

Balasore – August 12, 2025 – In the rural heartlands of Northern Odisha, where access to basic healthcare remains a daily challenge, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) is bringing meaningful change through its Mobile Health Units (MHUs). As a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, TPNODL is committed to not only powering homes but also empowering lives through sustainable community initiatives.

In the last three years, these Mobile Health Units have extended free medical care and medicines to over 5.59 lakh people across Balasore, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, and Mayurbhanj districts. Each district is served by one health van, offering critical primary healthcare in regions where traditional facilities are sparse or distant.

Each unit is staffed with a doctor, pharmacist, ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife), and a driver, and is equipped with essential medical tools and supplies. Through 3,720 health camps conducted so far, the MHUs have provided preventive and curative healthcare services to thousands, significantly improving local health outcomes.

Beyond medical treatment, 1,180 health awareness camps have also been organized, educating communities about hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and maternal health—fostering long-term wellness in areas where health education is often limited.

Gajanan Kale, CEO of TPNODL, said, “These mobile health vans are part of our larger commitment to inclusive development. By collaborating with local communities and panchayats, we aim to bridge healthcare gaps and ensure people in remote areas receive timely and essential medical support.”

By integrating healthcare outreach into its CSR framework, TPNODL continues to build stronger, healthier communities—one visit, one village at a time..
