TPWODL Strengthens Power Infrastructure in Bargarh District with Two Key Projects

Burla/Bargarh: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has successfully commissioned two major power infrastructure projects at Ambabhona and Dunguri under Bargarh district, aimed to enhancing electricity reliability for thousands of rural and semi-urban consumers. These initiatives reflect TPWODL’s commitment to building a robust and resilient distribution network to support the growing energy demands of the region.

New Link Line at Ambabhona PSS:

Charged on May 7, 2025, the newly completed 2.5 Ckm link line at Ambabhona Primary Substation (PSS) significantly boosts the reliability of the 33kV Bhukta Feeder. This vital project now reroutes power to Dunguri PSS through Ambabhona, bypassing a forest-prone section of the line that was frequently causing faults and service disruptions. Despite challenges like rocky terrain, river crossings, and limited access through agricultural lands, the project was completed ahead of schedule and without any crop loss.

This project cost Rs. 0.9 Crore to company. Over 15,000 consumers, including farmers and small industries, now benefit from a stable power supply that supports uninterrupted irrigation and industrial operations.

Diversion of 33kV Dunguri Line:

In another major upgrade, TPWODL has completed the diversion of a 7.5 Ckm stretch of the 33kV Dunguri line in the Magargada region. The original line, which passed through a flood-prone water body and dense forest, posed serious safety and maintenance issues, especially during monsoon seasons. This project cost Rs. 2.7 Crore to company

To address these challenges, TPWODL rerouted the line through more accessible terrain, employing innovative techniques like borewell rig drilling and ensuring 24/7 security due to the project’s proximity to the state border. Commissioned on May 7, 2025, this upgrade used 232 Sq.mm AAAC conductors to ensure improved voltage stability and reduced technical losses.

More than 12,000 consumers in Dunguri, Bhukta, Ambabhona, and surrounding areas now enjoy safer, more reliable power. Voltage at the Dunguri PSS has increased from 28kV to 31kV post-upgrade, improving overall system efficiency and supporting critical sectors including agriculture, residential, and small-scale industry.

Together, these projects demonstrate TPWODL’s forward-thinking approach to power distribution—prioritizing reliability, safety, and consumer satisfaction. By investing in strategic infrastructure upgrades, TPWODL continues to play a pivotal role in powering rural and urban areas of Western Odisha, supporting economic development and improving quality of life across the region.
