TPWODL will not Charge Rs. 500 Towards Processing Fee for Rooftop Solar Installation Under PMSGMBY

TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has taken yet another consumer-friendly decision to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems across Western Odisha under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY).

For the benefit of its consumers, TPWODL has waived Rs. 500 net metering processing fees for rooftop solar applications under the scheme. This waiver simplifies the application process by eliminating the need for online demand note generation and payment through the payment gateway, making it easier and more accessible for domestic consumers to benefit from solar energy. The waiver of processing fee has already been approved by Hon’ble OERC.

The company has already eliminated the requirement for a technical feasibility study for systems up to 10 kW capacity and has significantly reduced the turnaround time for key steps, such as site inspection, signing of the net metering agreement, and installation of net meters.

In order to make the scheme more and more consumer friendly, TPWODL continuously endeavours to simplify processes within the regulatory framework. This is not out of place to mention here that, the Government of India has announced up to Rs. 78, 000 and the Government of Odisha has announced up to Rs. 60,000 as subsidy for the rooftop solar system under the scheme.
